AboutΒΆ

Originally, this service is designed as a proof of concept that we could have one centralised service to provide unified access to multiple biomedical terminologies, and offer semantic similarity features on top of that. Over time, it has evolved into a more comprehensive platform that not only provides access to various biomedical terminologies but also offers advanced features such as semantic similarity calculations, ontology management, and integration capabilities.

The BTS aims to address the challenges faced by researchers, clinicians, and developers in accessing and utilizing biomedical terminologies effectively. By providing a unified interface and advanced features, the BTS facilitates better data integration, retrieval, and analysis in the biomedical domain.

This software itself is under MIT License, including the source code and the documentation provided in this repository. However, please note that the individual biomedical terminologies integrated into the BTS may have their own specific licenses and usage restrictions. They are not distributed with this software package, and while being used, is not modified in any way either. This software simply offers a way to access and utilize these terminologies. Before the admins decide to download and use any specific vocabulary to be used with this software, they should carefully review and comply with the licensing terms and conditions of each vocabulary to ensure proper usage and adherence to any restrictions imposed by the original licensors. The developers of this software are not responsible for any licensing issues that may arise from the use of the integrated biomedical terminologies.
